Whilst our school/youth activity packages are aimed at Years 5 through to college, we also have some specialist options for younger groups.

We understand that budgets are limited, now, more than ever! As an adventure centre without the residential costs, we can help you provide a valuable outdoor learning experience for your class without breaking the bank. We also have various options to provide a mixed delivery event, if you like, with your team being more involved in the leadership of non-technical activities. Of course, we love nothing more than to run your whole event, we just know that sometimes a helping hand can make a trip possible.

As a provider of outdoor adventure activities, you may like to compare us with others in the industry. As a small, independent activity centre, we are proud of our fantastic team of very experienced instructors and the tailored service that you will receive. Your activity package will be designed to suit you, with plenty of examples available in the brochure to give you some ideas.

The equipment that you will use is of a high quality, typically at the higher end of the price range for group kit. Our canoes and kayaks are mainly manufactured here in Great Britain, by Hou Canoes in Cheshire and WaveSport in Sussex. We use British Archery suppliers in Quicks and Merlin Archery.

Our instructors have a wealth of experience in delivering fun activities for middle school aged children ranging to fun leadership activities for high school students.

We welcome all school and youth groups, and are a local venue to Carlisle and Hexham.

Let us know your objectives and we will help create the right package for you! We use a range of adventure activities, usually over a three session day, to ensure that your group has a brilliant time and achieves your intended outcomes. Each activity session will be fully supervised by our friendly, professional instructors. Timings can be adjusted to suit your needs, we understand that transportation is often easier outside of school peak times, and for many local schools, up to three quality activity sessions can be organised within normal school hours.

Your group will have access to warm showers and changing rooms, should they be required. Lunch and breaks are usually outdoors or in the woods, but shelter can be provided in the event of bad weather. The Education Cabin at Talkin Tarn is available to hire through the City Council and we include this within many of our packages. or our large marquee.

Every school is different and the desired outcomes from outdoor education, although similar, are unique to you. Some schools book our activities to add to their adventure sports week towards the end of term, whilst for others, our visit will really help teachers to mould their class for the year ahead. Build on your outdoor experiences and learning activity with us to help with your lesson plans. Our instructors will be fully aware of your desired outcomes and will liaise with you during the day to ensure that you are pleased with the progression of your event.

Each of our enrichment activities for kids will be adapted in line with your needs. For example, a fun archery session may have a greater emphasis on numeracy through keeping score in friendly competitions, or supporting others through team games and peer review. Our problem solving activities will be selected with your goals in mind, bringing a competitive edge to aid teamwork, or including a time management element to help engage the group.

All of our instructors have an enhanced DBS check.
